About Us
We are overseen by a Board of Trustees who are experienced in the areas of business, education and health. They have all been CRB checked.
They are:
- Alison Maffey - Chair
Alison is closely linked with a number of organisations within the charity sector and worked as a Project Manager for the NCT. She was a managing director in the IT industry for fifteen years, specialising in equipment for those with special needs.
- Sandra Dunham - Vice Chair
Sandra has worked with children for the past nineteen years, as a childminder for Social Services caring for special needs children, in a primary school supporting a child with special needs and at Woodfield School for Severe Learning Difficulties. She currently works in a mainstream secondary school in their special needs department. She also has a 20 year-old son who has cerebral palsy.
- Nina Parish - Secretary
Nina is a lecturer in French Studies at the University of Bath, where she teaches Cultural Studies and translation. She previously taught at the University of London, in Paris, Aix-en-Provence and Marseille.
- Dennis J. Layzell F.C.A. - Treasurer
Dennis is a retired Chartered Accountant whose career was mostly involved in shipping and now enjoys family, holidays, sport and gardening.
- Chris Raby - Child Protection
Chris is a registered nurse: she qualified as a RGN in 1978 and as a RSCN in 1994. She has spent most of her professional career working with sick children in the NHS where she held two senior nursing positions. She managed a range of children’s services for a local Mencap society from January 2002 until July 2007.
Playskill's Team Leader is:
- Andrea Clarke M.C.S.P. B.Phys (Hons)
Andrea began work as a qualified physiotherapist for the NHS in 1994 and specialised in paediatrics in 1996. She worked up to a senior level in the NHS and in 2001 became a private practitioner and worked as a consultant for the national charity, Whizz-Kidz. In 2004 she also became the lead physiotherapist for the PACE centre in Aylesbury (a charity for children with physical disabilities) and worked there as a Consultant Physiotherapist until February 2009. Andrea established the Playskill pilot project in 2006. She continues to work as a Private Practitioner and has been working for the NHS since February 2009 leading a new service Transitioning Teenagers with Physical Disabilities to Adult Services in Middlesex.
