Meet the members of our board of Trustees

Stuart Soloway – Chair

PORTFOLIOS: Finance, Fundraising, Long term planning including innovation

WORKING GROUPS: Cobra, Remuneration Policy, Annual Budget & Forecast, Fundraising, Annual Report.

Stuart is a Retailer who has occupied senior buying, marketing and operations positions in the supermarket and fashion sectors. He has been a Director of the Burton Group, Next and M.D of Warner Bros. Studio Stores. He is married to Susan, has two sons, and five grandchildren. His younger son was born with Cerebral Palsy and attended Mother and Baby classes at Le Marie centre in Watford. Stuart is very active in Community work.

Nina Parish – Vice Chair

PORTFOLIOS: Admin, Marketing External/PR/Social Media, Long term planning including innovation.

Nina is a Professor in French at the University of Stirling where she teaches and is involved in a number of different research projects. She went to school with Andrea and was one of the first Playskill trustees and secretary. After some years as a trustee and director for other charities linked to her professional world, she decided to return to Playskill and is delighted to be supporting once again the work of this amazing charity.

Judith Cansdale

PORTFOLIOS: HR/Personnel, Policies in PLAYSKILL folder, Risk assessment

Judith trained at The Middlesex Hospital, and worked before retirement at Mount Vernon Hospital. Married with three adult children and eleven grandchildren. She appreciates the importance of Playskill as a result of her medical background and experience of two family members with Cerebral Palsy. Her interests include gardening, walking and being a member of a local church.

Dina Corcoran

PORTFOLIOS: Diversity, Marketing – Social Media/PR, Parents/Children Welfare, Treatment and Training

WORKING GROUPS: Best Practice, Child Disability, Treatments

Dina obtained her BA in Education with Psychology at the University of Wales and her post graduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy at City University London. She has worked for 12 years as a Children’s Speech and Language Therapist for the NHS. Five years ago she started her own business “I support Behaviour” a specialist support service for Autistic people and people with complex learning disabilities. Her son attended Playskill for four years.

Charlotte Kohnhorst

PORTFOLIOS: Diversity, Treatment and Training, Child Protection and Health and Safety, H.R./Personnel,
Charlotte is married with three grown up children. A primary class teacher for 20 years who retrained as a specialist teacher and assessor for children and young people with Specific Learning Difficulties.

Chris Neale

PORTFOLIO: Constitution, GDPR, IT, Website

WORKING GROUPS: Cobra, Futures group, Financial & Administration

Chris is an independent IT consultant with more than 25 years of experience in the industry. He started and ran for 15 years, a successful London based IT services and hosting business but decided to take a back seat when his son Francis was born some seven years ago with additional needs. He came into contact with Playskill as a parent and found that their expertise and help assisted Francis enormously.

Lucy Sharpe – Secretary

PORTFOLIOS: Website, Policy folder, GDPR, Local Authorities and NHS, Admin, Organisation, Secretarial.

WORKING GROUPS: Cobra, Treatment Model.

Lucy qualified as a Physiotherapist in 2004 and has worked in a number of hospitals and community settings. She began to specialise in Children’s physiotherapy in 2007. For last several years she has enjoyed working with a variety of children with physical disabilities in hospitals, educational and community settings. Lucy is married and has two children.

Gillian Waceba

PORTFOLIOS: Parents/Child Welfare, Treatment & amp; Training

WORKING GROUPS: Best practice Child disability treatments, Treatment model.

Gill has over 40 years’ experience of working with pupils with special needs. Having initially worked for Mencap in a residential unit in Somerset she then moved to Hertfordshire in the 80’s and started teaching in a school for pupils with severe learning difficulties. She worked at this school for 12 years before moving on to another Hertfordshire special school for 14 years as Deputy Head and then on to Woodfield as Headteacher. Having worked as Headteacher for 9 years and moved the school from good to outstanding, Gill took early retirement in August 2021. It was whilst working at Woodfield that she saw at first hand the amazing work of Playskill and Gill is keen to continue to support Playskill in her new role as a Trustee. Gill is married with a daughter and step son; and whilst early retirement was taken to enable spending more time with her family she is continuing to work in the special needs world and is being kept busy as a special school improvement partner and SEN Consultant.

Andrew York

PORTFOLIO: Finance, Constitution, New Groups / Expansion, Risk Assessment.

Andrew is a Chartered Accountant, qualifying with KPMG, and has worked in Finance and Insurance for companies such as HSBC and Prudential Assurance. Now a part time lecturer at the University of West London he also carries out a number of voluntary roles including chairing Friends of Chorleywood House Estate and Chorleywood Amateur Dramatics Society. He is married with a daughter and two grandchildren and lives in Chorleywood.
